Everything you need to know about eCommerce
Ecommerce stands for ‘electronic commerce’ and comprises the selling, exchange, distribution and marketing of products and services between an organization or person and their stakeholders. All electronic transactions are part of the digital ecommerce world. Nowadays ecommerce takes place through multiple channels: computers, mobile devices, tablets, apps etc. A lot of traditional stores try to operate ‘cross-channel’ or ‘multichannel’ with physical stores and online channels combined.
There are several good Ecommerce platforms that are available. Many of these a fairly easy for novices to setup, however, a professional setup will give the online store advantages to rank and sell the various merchandise. Depending on the size of your store, you will need to select the correct platform that will best suit your needs. Each platform has its pro and cons!
WooCommerce: This is our most popular platform to use for online stores! It runs alongside thw Wordpress Content Management system. It is very easy to integrate with the various payment gateways available! The downside is that customisations can be costly especially if there are no plugins that will add the functionality required, the ecommerce side will need constant updates if customisation is done!
Shopify: Shopify is easy to setup for novices but there are downsides to it. The most prominent downside is the additional transaction fee you'll be liable to pay if you don't use Shopify Payment. Moreover, plenty of useful and practical extensions require additional investment. Perhaps most challenging is "Liquid," Shopify's own coding language, which requires ecommerce store owners to pay an incremental price for customization.
Magento: Using Magento is not for everyone, especially if the store owner is not a programmer, or doesn't have a team of programmers working on his or her team. And then there's the price tag; the basic version is free, but getting an enterprise version means you'll need to shell out at least $20,000/year. If you don't have programmers on staff, be prepared to invest in third-party programming costs as well.
Custom Ecommerce Solution: The advantage of a custom ecommerce solution is that all can be achieved without the need for customisations of a system built by others. There are very few limitations. This option is not for small online stores because it is the most costly option and takes a long time to develop. Large stores with big budgets are the type that would require this system!
There are other options available, however, these are the systems that we trust!Instant Ecommerce Estimate Free Advice
